GR CASE STUDY: MAP WORKSHOP ON CO-CONSTRUCTING TRANSITION STRATEGIES TOWARDS AGRO-ECOLOGY

A remote workshop with local actors of the Greek Multi-Actor Platform in Imathia took place on the 1st of July 2020 with the aim to co-construct the transition strategies towards addressing the key dilemma of sustaining the long-term economic viability of fruit farms whilst protecting the natural resources.

Representatives of farmers, advisors, fruit processing industry and regional authorities & administration defined and agreed on a selection of agro-ecological practices in peach orchards as well as identified the required changes in the institutional settings of the farming system that can positively influence the implementation of the desired changes at the field level.

The discussion of the Market and Policy Instruments (MPIs) that facilitate and support the agro-ecological transition will be further developed in the next actors’ engagement in autumn forming the basis of the multi-criteria assessment of innovative MPIs.
