How consumers have been involved in UNISECO?

There is no doubt that consumers play a massive role in the whole mechanism of agro-ecology. UNISECO project involved consumers and actors designing market incentives and policies in the food sector. A big role was also played by NGOs in the project consortium, that have a lot of experience in working with various consumer groups. Local communities, with involvement of consumers, were participants in various stakeholder groups that played a role in different meetings and workshops while trying to tackle main dilemmas and obstacles in certain cases.

The UNISECO project investigated various farming practices in numerous different European countries from North to South. Many case studies also analysed consumers’ part in the mechanism of the agro-ecological approach and possible markets for agro-ecological production.

During the project duration diverse informational material was created. A part of it helps to better understand how agroecological farming practices contribute to producing healthy food and is useful for consumers around Europe.
