Policy

What existing government policies can improve agroecological farming systems efforts?

The European Institutions, including the European Commission and the European Parliament have been working on the Green Deal and other efforts to improve agro-ecological farming systems (including organic farming). With Climate Change a reality and the world in crisis, the EU has recognized the need to focus on a green future.

What policy measeures exist to improve agroecological farming systems in the EU?

The UNISECO project and its partners including the European Landowners’ Organization have and will continue to work with the European institutions at the international level to improve agroecological farming systems across the European Union. Examples at the local and national level can be found in the Case Studies and related issue and policy briefs on the Resource page.

What barriers exist that are keeping farmers and businesses in the value chain from adopting agroecological farming systems?

Costs and legislation are two of the barriers keeping farmers and businesses in the value chain from adopting agroecological farming systems, but other barriers can be learned in the policy and issue briefs as well as the case studies. We encourage you to learn more about this from our project resources page: https://uniseco-project.eu/resources
